The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) is an autonomous public business school established in 1963 by the Government of India (Ministry of Commerce and Industry) to help professionalize the country's foreign trade management and increase exports by developing human resources; generating, analysing and disseminating data; and conducting research. Its flagship program is the Master of Business Administration in International Business(MBA-IB).

IIFT was conferred the status of Deemed University in 2002. It conducts an autonomous entrance examination across various centers in India.

ABOUT THE COURSE

The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) was set up in 1963 by the Government of India as an autonomous organisation to help professionalise the country's foreign trade management and increase exports by developing human resources, analysing and disseminating data and conducting research. The Institute visualises its future role as:

A catalyst for new ideas, concepts and skills for the internationalisation of the Indian economy.
The primary provider of training and research-based consultancy in the areas of international business, both for the corporate sector, Government and the students community.
An institution with proven capability to continuously upgrade its knowledge base with a view to servicing the requirements of the Government, trade and industry through both sponsored and non-sponsored research and consultancy assignments.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Candidates who wish to apply for the exam must check the IIFT 2019 eligibility criteria first. Here are the complete eligibility criteria for IIFT exam for this year.

1. General category candidates with a minimum 3-year graduation degree in any discipline with 50% marks from a recognised university/institute/college are eligible to apply.

2. SC, ST and PWD category candidates with minimum 45% marks in graduation are eligible to apply.

3. Final year graduation students can also apply. However, they would need to submit the proof of requisite qualification by October 7, 2019.

4. Foreign nationals and NRIs can apply for IIFT entrance exam with a valid GMAT score which is not older than January 1, 2018.

5. Candidates of any age can apply for IIFT entrance exam.

Note: The eligibility criteria remains more or less same every year.

IIFT Scholarship Scheme

The institute has the provision of scholarship and financial aid for students who meet certain specifications.
IIFT has a functional Need Based Scholarship Scheme and under this arrangement, the institute makes payment for the interest subsidy for a given amount of time, on education loan taken by a candidate whose family has an annual income of less than INR 4.50 lakh.
Another scholarship scheme is available from the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and Ministry of Tribal Affairs for four SC and four ST candidates who manage to obtain admission in IIFT.

Conditions to avail scholarship scheme are given below:

The total family income of the candidate from all sources must not be more than INR 4.50 lakh per year.
If the student fails to pass the final exam of each year of the PG degree or even a terminal exam, his scholarship will be automatically terminated.

EXAM PATTERN

The exam has six sections - English Grammar, Vocabulary and Comprehension, General Knowledge and Current Affairs, Logical Reasoning, Data Interpretation and Quantitative Analysis.
The duration of the exam is two hours. There is no sectional time limit. Total marks for the exam are 100. The number of questions keeps changing every year. Last year, the exam had 114 questions. The exam has only multiple choice questions.
According to the IIFT 2019 exam pattern, there is negative marking for wrong answers and there is differential marking scheme.
The exam will be conducted in around 20 cities of India.

RESERVATION CRITERIA

The allocation of seats to various categories is summarized below:

Through IIFT, a total of 360 seats in IIFT Campuses (Delhi Campus- 220 seats and Kolkata Campus- 140 seats) will be filled.
Some seats out of the total sanctioned intake are earmarked for candidates belonging to minority groups or special categories.
It is important for the candidates to be aware of the reservation policy, in case they are eligible and wish to avail of its benefits.
Following are the categories that are considered for the reservation process:
Other Backward Classes (OBCs)
Scheduled Castes (SCs)
Scheduled Tribes (STs)
Non-Resident Indians (NRIs)

SYLLABUS

Candidates who are planning to apply for the exam must know the syllabus of IIFT 2019. It’ll help them prepare for the exam more specifically. The following table gives a brief of the IIFT 2019 syllabus.

Logical Reasoning: Comparisons, Directions, Coding-Decoding, Deductions, Input & Output etc.
